Inside: Best cornhole drinking game ideas for a summer good party time.
Summertime is basically here, and it is the perfect weather to get outdoors and play some games with the people you love. One of my absolute favorite games to play has to be cornhole; it’s simple fun and has so much room to make it your own.
One of my favorite ways to spruce it up, if you are playing with adults only is to make it a drinking game.
Making a cornhole drinking game is honestly much easier than you may expect.
You can go as simple as changing the rules a little, or go as far as buying a board specifically designed for this in mind.
I cover all of your options as well as discuss some of the best cornhole drinking game ideas that will make the game one to remember(or forget, depending on how much alcohol you have). So let’s get into it, shall we?
Table of Contents
How to Play Traditional Cornhole
- Boards should be 27 feet away.
- Players are split into two teams
- Each team gets four toss bags
- One player needs to be behind the board(to see which hole it goes into)
- Players from each team alternate tossing.
- Each time they make one in it is equal to a point.
- The first team to 21 wins.
1. Losers Take a Drink – This is a simple game. You play corn hole with its traditional rules, but every time the opposing team gets a point, you take a drink!
2. Drink for Drink – This one is a play on Point for Point. For this, after every half inning, everyone needs to tally up the points.
3. Foul Drinks – A good way to get people drinking is to make them take a drink every time they get a certain amount of fouls during the game.
4. I Drink, You Drink, We Drink – For this game, you may have to get yourself a custom corn hole board. For each different hole, there is a different call to action.
5. Designated Bean Bags – You can get some custom tossing bags that mean different things such as ‘drink’, ‘chug’, or ‘shot’ and if a player makes it in the other team has to do what the bag says.
6. Multiple Hole Board – For this board, each hole is assigned a meaning. There is one for ‘you drink’, ‘I drink’, ‘We drink’, and my personal favorite, ‘everyone drinks’.
7. Sink N Drink – Everyone wages a number that they’d have to drink if you make a trick shot. If you make it, then they have to follow through with their bet.
8. Trick Shot Doubles – For every game, the last toss needs to be a trick shot. If they make the trick shot, the opponents have to take 2 drinks. If they miss, then their team has to take 2 drinks.
Custom Drinking Cornhole Boards
9. Drinking Game Board Decal – Sometimes buying an entire custom board can be costly, so if you don’t mind adding a decal to yours then this is a perfect cost-efficient option.
10. Custom Black and White Board– This one is basically self-explanatory. The board says it all! You can get yourself a custom board that has various sections that mean different things if you were to land on them. In the example in the link, you’ll see that there are ‘opponent drinks’, ‘girls drink’, and many other sections. If you land on them, you have to follow the instructions.
11. Custom Drinking Board – I like this board because it comes with a safe zone. You can’t be drinking every time someone shoots otherwise you’ll be sloshed by the second round. Unless of course, that is your goal. Then drink on friends!
12. Glowing Board – This glowing board gives a video game or late-night bar feel and I am here for it! This Etsy shop also has a variety of custom options for you to choose from so you know you can get exactly what you want.
13. Colorful Board – This board comes with a shooter’s choice option, which I think is a cool twist! Not only are there all of the other cool sections but there is the added anticipation of waiting for the player’s decision at the end of it!
14. Black Board with Colorful Letters – When choosing your custom board, it’s important to pick one that fits your style. It’s an investment so you have to love the way it looks! It will pay itself off with the loads of laughs and memories that will be made while playing it.
15. Drinking Game Board Decal – Sometimes buying an entire custom board can be costly, so if you don’t mind adding a decal to yours then this is a perfect cost-efficient option.
16. Decal Wrap with Wood Texture – If you don’t wanna buy a whole-themed board but still want the wood texture, then this is the board decal for you! It looks like wooden planks so it adds to the authentic feel.
17. Drinking Game Board Decal – This one is affordable and hilarious!
18. Cool Board Decal with Photos – This board decal also features photos that just add to the comedic genius that is this game.
19. Margaritaville – This one isn’t a game board decal but it is a cute drinking-themed decoration for your cornhole board.
20. Simple Color Coded Board – This is a geometric board that has the game of Tetris shaking in its boots. All jokes aside, it’s pleasing on the eyes and is super cute.
DIY Cornhole Drinking Board
So if you saw all of those custom boards above and thought to yourself, “I could make one better.”, then my friend…this last one is for you! I walk you through what supplies you’ll need, and how to create one for yourself so that you can create the perfect board for you.
Supplies
- Wood Primer
- Pencil
- Paint(colors of choice)
- Weather Resistant Finisher
- Paint Brushes
- Blank Cornhole Board
Step One
The first step is to prime your board…otherwise the paint will absorb all weird. This depends on the kind of wood that it is but it never hurts to be safe. Follow the instructions on your wood primer.
Step Two
Once it dries, you get to start painting. You can use one of the designs above as your inspo, but I encourage you to really make it your own. You can stencil out words with a pencil before you start to help to avoid any mess-ups.
Step Three
After it dries COMPLETELY, it’s time to apply your weather-resistant finisher. This will help to add a layer of protection so it will stay nice for the years to come. After this dries you are all set to start your game!
So, I hope that this got you super excited for the summertime shenanigans that are to come. I know I am! Between these and our beer Olympic games – family BBQs aren’t going to know what hit them.
One of my favorite things about summer is the opportunity to spend time outside with the people I love, making memories, and having fun. There are so many more games that can be played outside, the possibilities are endless.
Until next time, get out there and have some fun!
