A cryptogram is a classic word puzzle where a famous quote is hidden behind a simple substitution cipher — each letter of the alphabet is replaced by a different letter. Your goal is to crack the code, uncover the hidden message, and give your brain a workout.

- How do I solve a substitution cipher?
- Start with the short words: a one-letter word is almost always "A" or "I", and common three-letter words like "THE" and "AND" are good early guesses. Look for doubled letters and repeated patterns, and use letter frequency — E, T and A are the most common letters in English. Each correct letter reveals more of the quote, which makes the rest easier.
- Are the hints free?
- Yes. You can reveal the author of the quote or reveal individual letters as often as you like, and a wrong guess just flashes briefly so you can try again — there is no penalty and nothing to lose.
- How often are new puzzles published?
- A new daily cryptogram is published every day, each built from a real quote by a public-domain author. Daily puzzles do not repeat until you have worked through the whole collection.
