Inside: Fun 3 Year Old Birthday Party Games.

Everyone loves a birthday — especially those that celebrate a single digit! Toddlers don’t necessarily need piñatas to party (too many possibilities for injury), and clowns and magicians can frighten your little ones. Games, even those with many little winners, can be hard for small children to understand, which causes more frustration than fun.

But fear not! There are loads of simple, creative ideas to entertain tiny revelers that are age-appropriate, inexpensive, and require minimal preparation.

The key is to think of these less as games and more as activities. Even more specifically, this list is a series of breaks that will make your 3-year-olds birthday a blast.

3 Year Old Birthday Party Games

3 year Old Birthday Party Games

Ball Toss: usually we use bean bags or juggling balls for this and a bucket, this year we used water balloons and our Little Tykes basketball net, which can be adjusted up and down very easily for little kiddies.

Simon Says: Always a firm favorite and great fun especially if you throw in some instructions such as “Simon says hop around like frogs”, “Simon says wiggle your bottom” “Simon says to pretend to be a gorilla”, etc.

Mummy Race: this is so much fun and perfect for all ages, including adults. Split the group into two teams, give each team a toilet roll, they then must race to cover one teammate in toilet paper, by wrapping it around their body, making them into a Mummy!

Birthday Party Games For Turning Three

Relay Races: simple running relay races are always fun! As we were having a water-themed party this year we had a water relay, where the teams raced to fill a basin with water, filling little buckets up from the paddling pool!

Pass the Parcel: I loved Pass the Parcel as a child and it is a “must-have” game at all of our parties. As the vast majority of the children at the party were under 6 I tucked a little gift into each layer of wrapping paper – whistles, badges, crayons, bouncy balls, etc.

Fun 3 Year Old Birthday Games Ideas

These fun board games are the perfect Indoor Games for 3 Year Old Birthday Party!

Unicorn Glitterluck: Help the unicorns cooperatively find all the friends, get them to the party cloud, and collect all ten cloud crystals! Hurry before baby Rosalie arrives at the surprise party. In this game, kids either win together when they beat Baby Rosalie to the party with all 10 cloud crystals, or lose together if Baby Rosalie reaches the party first.

Dragons Cave: A fun strategy game to play with friends! Gather gold coins on the way to treasure inside the dragon’s cave! Careful, you don’t want the Dragon to predict your movements

Toddler Board Game Ideas

Chicken Cha, Cha, Cha: A memory game where chickens are racing around the board to try and steal feathers from other chickens. Kids have to use their memory to advance on the board. Instead of drawing movement cards, kids must remember where the movement cards are to advance their chicken. If they catch another chicken on the board they get to steal a feather. This is a fun game to play with the whole family.

Dinosaur Escape Game: The dinosaur friends are lost in the ferns and a volcano is about to blow. Can you help them escape to safety on dinosaur island? Memory, logic and luck will be your guide!

Outdoor Games for 3 Year Old Birthday Party

Backyard Obstacle Course: This is a great backyard game because you can use any items you have laying around the house to create the ULTIMATE obstacle course for your kiddos. When they get bored, switch up the course and it will keep them busy for HOURS! Hands down, this is one of our favorite fun games for kids!

Chalk Obstacle Course: Kids LOVE chalk. Have them help you create an obstacle course on the sidewalk. Heck, join them for a round or two!

3 Year Old Outdoor Birthday Party Games

Freeze Tag: Nothing says “fun games for kids” like freeze tag! Additionally, this oldie but goodie is a great way to get the kids some exercise! Let them burn off steam while playing a round of freeze tag!

Potato Sack Races: This classic and fun outdoor game is easy to organize. Even if you don’t have a potato sack, a pillowcase will do the trick!
